Elaine Jackson
Formerly Elaine Love (nee Cooper)
Elaine was born on 24th December 1929 in Beacon Hill, the elder of two daughters of Jack and Thirza Cooper. Elaine was always caring and studious, qualities that helped her move from the village school to Farnham Grammar school and then on to work for TSB in Farnham.
Elaine met James Love (known as Jimmy) after he had moved down from Newcastle to find work. Marriage followed in March 1951 and before long five children, Yvonne, Stephen, Philip, Alison and Peter. Elaine was dedicated to her children and, later, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Faith and music were always important to Elaine and they helped her at key moments in her life. Sadly, Philip died suddenly from illness in December 1984 and, shortly before her planned retirement, in May 1989 Jimmy also died.
Five years later Elaine met Ian Jackson and they married in December1994. Elaine moved to Liphook for her new life with Ian whose sons, Mark, Michael and Craig, expanded her family. Ian, unfortunately, died in February 1997 but Elaine continued to live in Liphook supported by family, friends, neighbours and the community of Linch parish church.
Parkinson’s disease blighted Elaine’s later years which she, typically, bore with great stoicism. In October 2019 she moved to Moorlands Lodge where she received loving care until her death.
